A special congratulations to Hayden Mullins who has been chosen to represent the Under 15 Australian schoolboys team to tour the West Indies following impressive performances in the recent Barossa Valley tournament. Hayden topped the carnivals run scorers with 260 runs for the carnival, including 58, 108no and 82no.

Hayden was the only player chosen from South Australia and the East Torrens community extend a great congratulations to Hayden on his selection.

3 out of 4 vs Uniupdated January 25, 2011

East Torrens had a solid round winning 3 out of the 4 grades (+ Outright to the C's) against University.

The A's had a confidence boosting win bowling University out for 202 after making 238 the week before. Impressive with the bat was Kane Richardson who made a fine 71 and Aaron Mullins batting the innings deep into Day 1 with 41 no. Michael Cranmer again bowled with skill and pace on Day 2 to finish with another 5 wicket haul, he finished with of 5/49 of 16 over’s and Luke Pickford also bowling well finishing with 4/24 off his 14 over’s. The 2nd day was also highlighted by the First XI debut of Chris Rees who battled hard all day unfortunately not coming up with a wicket. Callan Richardson also bowled with good pace and swing at the beginning of the innings to finish with 1/66 off his 16 over’s after being taken apart the week before by Redback Tom Cooper. The boys were able to bowl University out before Tea and batted 14 over’s finishing with 2/71 with Tim Webber ending with a great knock of 57 no off 51 balls.

The B's are yet again proving that they should be finals contenders this year with a convincing win at Campbelltown on the weekend. Day 1 was highlighted by left arm fast bowler and part-time coach Adam Walsh finishing with 6/34 which set up the game. University's score of 130 was easily knocked off by the Reds who finished 183 all out with Max Schlicker batting well for a solid 73 to set up the innings.

Outright victories are hard to come by in cricket but the C's proved that they also are wanting to play finals cricket with a confidence boosting outright victory at the weekend. After bowling the students out for a dismal 60 with Luke Fitzner having a day out finishing with an outstanding 6/13 off 13 over’s, the Reds clearly had the upper hand on a flat Park 10 wicket. East Torrens went on the attack with Benno Schlicker making 81 and Luke Sheridan making 60 who set up East Torrens' innings before finishing with 6/161 dec. Captain Wayne 'The train' Bambrick then sent University back in to push for an outright and this was achieved when University were bowled out for 120 with Luke Fitzner adding to his 6 wicket haul in the 1st Innings with two more wickets, 2 catches and a run out. East Torrens chased 23 to win outright and did it one down.

The only loss for the round was to the D's who started miserably being bowled out for 72 on a Karl Schlicker special at Windsor Gardens. Uni then batted and finished 9/152 dec with Josh Noye and captain Daniel Cocks both finishing with 2 wickets a piece. The Reds then batted for a 2nd time making 4/119 with Jarrad Indraratne chipping in with 47 no and Luke Clark 26.

The club has the bye the next round other than the A grade who plays Northern Districts in the country round at Nurioopta on the 30th and the B's playing the SACA Under 17's on the 5th of Feb at Campbelltown.

Reds finish 3rd in BankSA Shield updated January 19, 2011

Congratulations to the BankSA Shield team for placing third in the 2011 carnival. Unfortunately the boys went down to arch-rival Kensington in a thriller at Parkinson Oval today.

Batting first East Torrens made a respectable 135 with Vice-Captain Lachlan Collins again holding the innings together with 45 and being supported well by Jaydon Tatarelli with 28. With a difficult wicket to bat on, the boys were confident that they could restrict Kensington but this wasn't the case with them passing the score in the 48th over with a six.

In addition, a special congratulations to Lachlan Collins for making the team of the carnival with his 231 runs being the real 'backbone' of the team. Also, Jordan Indaratne was announced the joint C.W Walker Wicket Keeping trophy winner for the most outstanding Wicket-Keeper of the carnival. Jordan finished with 9 catches and 2 stumpings.

Well done to Wayne, Dillon and all involved but we will be back next year bigger and better looking to go one step further!
